Accommodation

The Location

AKD School is located in Wattamin Village close to the city of Battambang. The city offers a remote riverside setting, French Colonial architecture and a number of laid- back cafes. From the School it’s a 15 minutes bycicle ride or 5 minutes by motorbike to the center where you will find everything you need. The accommodation itself is in the back of the school ground, next to the family’s home. Kamnat’s family are very generous, kind and friendly people. They will warmly welcome you into their project and home. You will get involved in the daily life where you can experience real Cambodia.

The Property

There are two buildings to accommodate the volunteers. The accommodation is basic but offers everything you need. To give you an idea:

  • 5 bedrooms and an extra bed in the connection room. Each room has one double bed and one single, sleeping up to three people, and are cooled by fans.
  • 1 shared bathroom which includes a toilet, sink and shower. There are two additional toilets outside the main building for the students.
  • A small volunteers kitchen with a coffee and tea area, and a cool box.
  • Porch with a shared living and dining area. This is where you will have meals (unless you wish to eat out), prepare lessons and enjoy the company of the other volunteers and family. Sometimes, you might be joined by the family’s gentle and adorable dogs.
  • Outside kitchen. From here, you will smell many wonderful fragrances as ” Mama” cooks up her delicious Cambodian dishes.
  • Living room / teachers room. This room is based in the green house (main volunteers house) and contains all the school information, a simple relaxing corner and a small area for the family’s children.

  • Costs $5 per person, per evening

    (this goes towards the running costs of the school/accommodation, food and drinks)
